Can children ride in the front seat of a car in the Philippines?

Under the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act (RA 11229), children aged 12 and below can’t ride in the front seat unless they are at least 150 cm (4'11") tall and can use a seatbelt properly. Children shorter than this must use an appropriate child car seat. Violations carry fines starting at ₱1,000.
