Is it safe to mix regular tap water with my engine coolant?

It is highly discouraged to mix tap water with your car's coolant. Tap water contains minerals that can cause rust and scale buildup inside your cooling system, eventually leading to overheating. If you must top up and do not have a premixed coolant on hand, use only distilled water.
